Photography/Illustration

Photography and illustrations for books, reports and other things is very hard to find. You could try drawing diagrams yourself, but sometimes that is just not helpful, so I try to find something in the realm of good people providing pictures for a very low cost. Or, sometimes, these people provide it for free, which I love. I use these sites. Amazingly great.

Libraries with Digital Collections:

Library of Congress--a huge resourse of old pictures, more than 70 collections are digitized, as of now.

New York Public Library-- 2 collections of images are digitized. African Americans in the 19th century, and Images of Cities and important people.

Websites that offer images for free: (please read the terms and conditions on each page)
FreeImages.co.uk--offering stock photographs for commercial and personal use.
FarmPictures.com--free farm pictures
FreeStockPhotos.com--a lot of government photography, its free for commercial and personal use, but you have to credit the site somewhere on there.
DHD Photo Gallery--a gallery of a whole lot of photos, provided for personal and commercial use.
